Boyd Brothers (Fauldhouse) Ltd are a very successful 3rd generation family business. As an electrical contractor our business was founded by John Boyd back in 1967. Over the last five decades we have gained a wealth of experience and knowledge and remain true to the values and work ethic of our Grandfather John Boyd. We still have a large family involvement in the day to day running of the business and a belief that our customers old and new remain our most important partners in our continued success.

The last 10 years have seen Boyd Brothers invest our wealth of expertise and extensive electrical knowledge in what was a very new EV industry. From those very early EV days Boyd Brothers successfully partnered with SWARCO, who have been instrumental in securing the vast majority of Scotland’s public EV infrastructure projects, our long term partnership continues to deliver a winning combination of EV charger solutions delivered through a full turnkey infrastructure specialist.

With over 1,000 EV projects competed throughout the UK we are recognised as one of the UK’s leading EV infrastructure companies. We continue to build on our reputation by delivering a quality service coupled with the highest standards of workmanship. We believe it is important to differentiate our customers experience and appreciate we are only ever as good as our last project.

From the construction of single EV charging sites to more complex EV infrastructures, similar to the design and build of Dundee’s Internationally recognised and Award wining integrated hub at Princes Street, Boyd Brothers have the experience and are more than capable of delivering your infrastructure visions.

In the last five decades we have amassed a wealth of experience within the electrical contractor industry. Working on a wide range of projects and have gained recognition for our service and quality workmanship. We confidently support all projects public or private, ensuring the customer is always centre to our project delivery, we offer a very professional and a caring approach which you would expect from such a long-established family business.

Our directly employed teams of skilled professionals are very experienced and fully certified delivering the highest industry standards. By differentiating the quality workmanship and service we provide, we are able to build and develop sustainable and mutually beneficial relationships with all our clients.

We believe investment in our young members of staff is important to our future as it injects a vibrant and youthful energy across the business. Our highly successful apprenticeship programme has seen several of the Boyd Brothers team qualify for “The Apprentice of the Year” awards through Select. Both Ian Boyd and Lorraine Boyd remain heavily invested in our young apprentices and still manage to take the time to personally interview each and every young candidate, and welcoming all successful apprentices to the Boyd family.

1967

The Boyd Brothers journey begins with John Boyd a former coal mining electrician starting his own electrical contracting business, A large development contract from West Lothian housing quickly follows.

1975

John is joined by his eldest son, Ian, who leaves school and starts his career as the businesses first apprentice electrician, studying at Bathgate Technical College. Many more apprentices have followed since those early days with Ian and Lorraine still personally interviewing each and every one! A few years later (1978) Robert follows his elder brother’s footsteps and joins the growing family business. Several timber framed housing contracts follow to add to the already successful Industrial and Commercial customer base.

1983

John Boyd elects to step back from the business taking a well-earned rest through a semi-retirement role, leaving the boys to carry on his good work. The company goes from strength to strength.

1999-2004

The third generation of Boyd family members soon arrive in the form of John, Stephen, Stuart, and later Amy. Many more medium to large electrical projects follow.

2009

The company moves away from its bread and butter contracting projects. Focus is placed in the then growing renewable energy sector including electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure. Boyd Brothers successfully partner with SWARCO to offer a winning combination of EV charger expertise and infrastructure specialist. Our very first EV project follows shortly afterwards at Caledonian MacBrayne's ferry terminal.

2014

A Civils Division is added to meet the ever expanding EV infrastructure projects, offering a one stop shop to clients from initial concept, design, planning, full construction, and ultimate client sign off.

2016

Due to EV infrastructure success, the company puts in place expansion plans from its hometown operation in Fauldhouse with a move to a new HQ facility in Livingston. With a growing reputation for quality and service Boyd becomes the go to EV infrastructure specialist, all the while retaining its historical electrical contracting division for key clients.

2018

The EV expertise continues in the shape of new larger integrated EV Hubs. In partnership with Dundee City Council, Boyd design and build Dundee’s Award-winning hub in Princes Street which receives International accolades and puts Dundee at the leading edge of EV infrastructure innovation

2020

The EV infrastructure journey has seen Boyd Brothers carry out over 1,000 EV projects throughout the UK and responsible for over 80% of Scotland’s Public EV infrastructure. John Boyd would be so proud of their achievement.

We have ISO 9001:2015 accreditation, which is an internationally recognised Quality Management System and ensures the following can be achieved:

  • Improved quality of work and services provided
  • Measurement of customer satisfaction
  • Early identification of potential risks to the business and the means by which they can be mitigated
  • Extra training of staff

We complete regular internal audits to ensure we are complying with the requirements of ISO and use these to improve our processes and quality management. We conduct regular office and site audits to comply and manage our accreditations. We look to improve our processes to streamline our business and constantly work with our team to encourage and implement new ideas.
